Frequently Asked Questions ...

Do we offer wholesale pricing?

Yes. We offer some of the best wholesale pricing in the industry. In addition our clients receive discounts based upon their monthly purchases that can amount to as much as 30% below wholesale prices. For wholesale pricing you must have a Federal ID number for tax purposes. Please contact us for further information.

What is a United Inch?

United inches is a term used in the framing industry that we use to describe the size of a print for the purpose of pricing. The number of united inches in any given image is the sum of its length and its width (one side only for each). Thus, in effect, it represents 1/2 of the perimeter of the print. For example, an image that is 10 x 20 has 30 united inches whereas a 24 x 36 inch print has 60 united inches. We use united inches for pricing as well as for determining shipping costs.

Are certain prints better suited to be placed on hardboard then on canvas and vice versa

Absolutely. Although there are no fixed rules regarding what type of print looks best on what type of surface, certain patterns have emerged. If you are still uncertain after looking at the information below, feel free to give us a call and we'll be happy to advise you.
  • Black and white photos often look best on our Museum ArtPlak
  • Smaller images on hardboard are better when they are able to stand out from the wall. This is accomplished using either a Decorator or a Museum ArtPlak.
  • ArtPlaks are well suited to informal settings whereas canvas transfers (which are meant to be framed) fit well in both formal and informal settings.
  • Very large images (> 30 x 40) are best treated as either a Decorator ArtPlak or a canvas transfer.
  • The majority of images look great in any format.

Do you keep posters in stock?

No. There are just too many images on the market. Our web site only shows you about 1300 images but there are at least 100 times that many available in the print market. Trying to keep at least one copy of over 100,000 different prints would be prohibitive both in cost and floor space. By not maintaining inventory on most items (except our specials), we keep our prices lower than anyone else on the web.

Are all posters on your web site always available?

Not always. Publishers advise us when new prints are released but rarely when items go out of print. Generally we only find out that an item is out of print when we place an order. This is especially true with respect to limited edition prints and giclees since they are only printed in fixed quantities.

What happens when a poster is out of print?

We always check stock with the appropriate publisher before processing your order and will not cash your check or money order, or process your credit card, until we confirm that your choice(s) are still in print. If the item you ordered is out of print, then we will call you to see whether you wish to order an alternate item.

Can we obtain prints that we don't see on your web site?

In most cases, yes. If you can provide us with the information such as the name of the artist, title of the print or publisher, we can often obtain these for you. This information can generally be found in small lettering on the bottom edge of the print.

Can hardboard products be made with different edge colors?

Although black is the standard, we do offer most any other edge color. This often occurs because the client wants to match the edge color to some color in the image itself. We often do custom coloring for a 5% premium on the existing price.

Do you offer framing for canvas transfers?

Yes. We do our own framing and have very competitive pricing. As you might imagine, it is very difficult to clearly show frame samples over the net. Give us a call and we will try to suggest an appropriate frame based upon your preferences and the print in question.
